Saturday 11th July 2020 - Sea-trout at last!

All change since my last entry. The drought has ended and the river has been bank-high for the past week. Despite that the fishing has not been easy - some usually productive spots seem to be devoid of fish. The lower reaches have been so high that I have resorted to going miles upstream to find water that I can fish with the fly. That has been successful and I've had a few nice sea-trout this week, mostly of about three or four pounds. Added to that, the fields are full of mushrooms, so supper is guaranteed! Skipper Charlie Bartlett has not been able to operate until now, so we have missed out on several planned sea-fishing trips. However, we are hoping to get out on Tuesday (fishing under social-distancing rules!) so I am looking forward to the first fresh mackerel of the year. The website continues to be a nightmare - sorry! Hopefully we will eventually get back to normal soon.
