"Partly rewritten from The Company of Adventurers". This is very nice recent binding which contains a scanned copy of a very crumpled original. Original copies are next to impossible to get hold of. The booklet was originally printed in Nairobi by W. Boyd and Co. The date is not given, but the front cover states, "All profits from the sale of this Book will be devoted to the provision of Mobile Canteens for the Forces operating in Eastern Africa". This puts the date of issue some time during the First World War when East Africa was a major theatre of operations. John Boyes recounts the story of his 1906 expedition from the Ethiopean coast, southwards to Nairobi. Chapters include: Nairobi to Dire Daoua; On the road to Addis Ababa; Addis Ababa and the Abyssinians; The march to the frontier; Across the Dessert; Over the mountains to Nairobi.
